Class requirements
The 3K classroom is for children who are fully potty trained, have good verbal communication skills, and can participate in small group instruction. We maintain a teacher to student ratio of 1:12; all teachers are experienced and certified in First Aid and CPR.

Things to know
Each child has a cubby space to hold their personal items. We recommend purchasing a Closetmaid fabric drawer to keep your child’s belongings contained and secure. Children who arrive prior to 8:00 are welcome to bring their breakfast to school. The teachers in 3K use thematic units to plan their daily curriculum. Your child will receive the most benefit from our program if they arrive before 9:00 a.m. If your child arrives after 9:00, they may miss the morning lesson or art activity. We have children’s chapel twice a month at Holy Cross Episcopal Church. The director of children’s ministries reads non-denominational bible stories and teaches the children basic prayers and songs. A 30-minute music class is available on Monday mornings at an additional cost. Sports and fitness classes are available weekly for an additional charge – more information.

Everyday routine
Children are provided with lunch at 11:00. We will provide alternate meals for children with allergies or dietary restrictions. Nap is from 12:00 until 2:00. Children will need a small blanket & pillow for nap time. They may also bring a soft animal or doll if they wish. These items will be sent home on Fridays to be washed. Children are provided with an afternoon snack around 2:15. Children are provided with one-hour of outdoor play time every morning and afternoon (weather permitting). Children also have access to an indoor gym with riding toys and play equipment. Parents will receive a daily report documenting your child’s eating, sleeping, and classroom behaviors. All children are on a positive-reinforcement behavior system for which they may earn prizes/special treats. Children in 3K typically advance to 4K around their 4th birthday or sooner depending on their development and maturity.
